Prattsburgh Wind Project to Move Forward

PRATTSBURGH-- A controversial Southern Tier wind project has been slated to move forward, but not everyone thinks it will really happen.

The Prattsburgh wind project has not been a light topic in the community.
On Friday the energy company First Wind announced, construction will begin in Spring 2009.

Back in June, groups of people were rallying for and against the proposed wind project filled a town board meeting.

One of those groups was the Advocates for Prattsburgh.

They say they want the renewable energy, but they don't think they belong in the backyards of residents.

President of the Advocates, John Servo says, the wind company is involved in a number of lawsuits and their announcement today was just to get people excited and put themselves back in a positive light.

“So, claiming that they will have this built in 2009 in very positive. I think it's highly premature and not at all true, time will tell,” Servo added.

NEWSCHANNEL36 tried contacting officials from First Wind, but they were not available for comment Friday evening.
