THE STEUBEN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATED AN INCIDENT ON THE PINE HILL ROAD IN THE TOWN OF COHOCTON ON APRIL 29th 2008 IN THE AM. THE SHERIFF’S PATROL UNIT CAME UPON A LARGE TRACKED CRANE BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY, THE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT WAS BEING DRIVEN FROM ONE WINDMILL CONSTRUCTION SITE ONTO THE ROADWAY WHERE THE TRACK CAME APART, THE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY WAS TRYING TO DRIVE THE CRANE DOWN THE ROADWAY TO A DRIVEWAY THAT WENT TO ANOTHER WINDMILL TOWER SITE. THE ROAD BECAME OFFICALLY CLOSED AFTER THE TOWN OF COHOCTON HIGHWAY SUPERINTENDANT RESPONDED TO THE SCENE. THE OPERATOR OF THE TRACKED CRANE RICHARD M. DUNHAM, AGE 53, OF ROCHESTER WAS ISSUED A TICKET FOR OPERATING AN. UNREGISTERED MOTOR VEHICLE ON A OPEN PUBLIC HIGHWAY.
