Shoreline Wind Energy Study and Development
"Erie County, with the assistance of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the Department of Energy (DOE), has conducted a yearlong wind characterization study, the first of its kind, along the urban shoreline of Lake Erie. The study quantifies Erie County's wind power regime at 5 shoreline locations from Tonawanda to Blasdell. The collected data, along with relevant environmental and permitting issues specific to the test sites, is now available to wind developers, municipalities, and the public.
