Senator Chuck Schumer February 4, 2008 Letter by James Hall

February 4, 2008

Honorable Senator Chuck Schumer
313 Hart Senate Building
Washington, DC 20510

Senator Schumer,

When you led the fight against Dubai Ports World, you demonstrated leadership and sound judgment. Allowing foreign ownership, much less control, of crucial infrastructure is dangerous. Today we have a similar crisis.

The Senate is taking up the Stimulus Bill. You sit on the Financial Committee that has the responsibility to work out the differences with the House version of this same legislation.

It has been reported by the Daily Herald that: “The bill includes incentives to spur production of wind farms.” It was a great relief to learn that these same subsidies were removed from the House Bill. Our opposition to the industrial wind industry stems from a grave concern that foreign interests and questionable financial benefactors are systematically targeting the United State and New York for their destructive plunder, in the name of politically correct “Alternative Energy”.

Iberdrola, the second largest European utility and wind developer company, who is now in play for a financial take over by a French and Spanish consortium, is in the process of acquitting Energy East. Only the NYS PSC has blocked final approval. The fate of NYS is being auctioned off for unscrupulous development.

The Industrial Wind Industry is replete with other examples of ex-Enron executives and European robber barons who have bought their way to the seat of power in order to receive privileged subsidies. Taxpayers will be burdened and NYS utility customers will be doomed to huge electric increases. Their greedy schemes to defraud will not produce any meaningful “Green Energy” but will line the foreign bank account of corrupt snake oil salesmen with greenbacks.

Have your staff investigate the ownership linkage of these Wind Projects. We have the proof that reveals that Anti-trust and RICO laws have been violated.

I am an active registered Democrat, working with Eric Massa and known to Steuben County chair Shawn Hogan. Our research and data base is available to your staff and we encourage your office to take the lead and investigate the evidence of our allegations.

Please oppose the reintroduction of tax incentives for the wind industry in the Stimulus Bill. Enclosed is a copy of a June 28, 2006 letter to Senator Clinton on the need for a comprehensive federal investigation into the wind industry. We look forward to working closely with your office.

Cordially,

James Hall
